The Lone Star Summer Shootout presented by SDPC Raceshop and Chevrolet Performance was proud to partner with Advanced Product Design for Sunday's Main Event.
After waiting for the weather to clear and to complete Friday night's shootout, the APD Main Event began Saturday night and was concluded Sunday. Ultimately Johnny Ezell was on a mission as his quarter final finish of Saturday's $11,000 race. With two entries still left in the semi-final round, Ezell had a chance to race himself in the final if he could get the buy. Michael Pennington put a stop to this once he locked in the buy the final round where he would face Ezell in the one of the dragsters of his choosing.
Both drivers had a great showing but ultimately Johnny Ezell was able to take home the win in Sunday's APD Main Event where he would receive the big $7,500 Winner's Check!
The Lone Star Summer Shootout presented by SDPC Raceshop and Chevrolet Performance is proud partner with Lucas Oil Products to bring No Box racers the Lucas Oil Exclusive 32.
The last remaining No Box drivers Brian Nelson (Fri) and Lance Barela (Sat) were able to move into the last few rounds of Super Pro and a chance at the main event money, but also receive some bonus funds to boot!
Thanks to Lucas Oil Products, the Exclusive 32 No Box drivers will receive an extra $500 (Friday)/$750 (Saturday/Sunday) for being the last remaining contestant in the group as well as $250 for being the “runner up” in the last round of the Exclusive 32.
Though Brian and Lance were not able to make it to the final round this year, if they could have went on to win the main event Capco Contractors (Kilgore, TX) would have thrown in a $1500 bonus to the No Box racer that could close the deal and stand in the winner’s circle on either Saturday or Sunday!
