Racers were able to park, socialize, and The 4th Annual Practice Tree Race began at 6 PM. This year’s Practice Tree Race was presented by Farmers Insurance Agent, Matt Holmes and paid $1,000 to the winner (Tommy Phillips, Forney, Texas), $400 to the runner-up (Ryan Gleghorn, Watagua, Texas), $150 to the semi-finalists, and $75 to competitors in the round of 8. After a few bad hits at the tree and racers encouragement Phillips decided to have a little fun and entered this year’s practice tree race. Though Phillips defeated Gleghorn and won the Lone Star Practice Tree Shootout Big Check he is donating all of his winning back into Friday’s purse. Now all of Friday’s racers will have a chance to win $6,000 instead of the original $5,000 in Friday’s Main Event. The Texas Motorplex was generous enough to loan the Champions’ Club where racers could get comfortable in the beautiful air-conditioned venue and spend time with fellow racers.
