Lone Star Practice Tree Shootout Presented by Farmers Insurance Recap/$1,000 Added To Friday's Purse
The gates opened Thursday at noon for the 6th Annual Lone Star Summer Shootout at the Texas Motorplex presented by SDPC Raceshop and Chevrolet Performance. Racers were able to park, socialize, and The 4th Annual Practice Tree Race began at 6 PM.
This year’s Practice Tree Race was presented by Farmers Insurance Agent, Matt Holmes and paid $1,000 to the winner (Tommy Phillips, Forney, Texas), $400 to the runner-up (Ryan Gleghorn, Watagua, Texas), $150 to the semi-finalists, and $75 to competitors in the round of 8. After a few bad hits at the tree and racers encouragement Phillips decided to have a little fun and entered this year’s practice tree race. Though Phillips defeated Gleghorn and won the Lone Star Practice Tree Shootout Big Check he is donating all of his winning back into Friday’s purse. Now all of Friday’s racers will have a chance to win $6,000 instead of the original $5,000 in Friday’s Main Event.
